Voltron, Defender of the Universe

With the new pricing structure at Netflix set to change in September, I'd like to say I'm planning to cancel my subscription entirely, but they're making it very compelling to at least keep paying for their streaming service.

Looking at the TV shows I've added to my queue over the summer, Netflix keeps upping their game: great dramas like Mad Men and Friday Night Lights, and a slew of comic book-related cartoons like 90's staples X-Men and Spider-Man, and even recent series like last year's Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes.

This past Friday night, I couldn't help but seeing how the great 80's cartoon Voltron held up to the test of time. Though I'd be hard-pressed to recount any specific storyline, I fondly remember the opening theme which was narrated by Peter Cullen (aka Optimus Prime from Transformers). The theme and the show itself were quite epic and thanks to the magic of YouTube, you can take a look below:

Did I mention that Mattel is releasing a new set of the Voltron lions that will fit action figures of the pilots into them? While it will be gradually released over the course of the year, in the end, this bad boy will run you $290:

What's your favorite cartoon from the 80's?
